[Bernal Díaz del Castillo, 1490 - 1584, was a Spanish conquistador, who participated as a soldier in the conquest of Mexico under Hernán Cortés and late in his life wrote an account of the events].

This copy belonged to Ben Grauer, with his signature on the first white page. From The Grolier Club's website: "Born in Staten Island, N.Y., Ben Grauer had a prosperous career as a child actor in the 1920s, both in film and on Broadway. He graduated from Townsend Harris High School, the preparatory school for City College of New York, and received his BA from City College in 1930. Grauer started in radio as an actor but soon became part of the broadcasting staff at the National Broadcasting Company. On the radio, he was associated with Walter Winchell, Eleanor Roosevelt and Arturo Toscanini. Starting in 1932, Grauer covered the Olympic Games, presidential inaugurations, and international events. He married interior designer Melanie Kahane in 1954 and retired from NBC in 1973. Grauer was an ardent bibliophile and collector and printed his own Christmas cards at his Between-hours Press. He was active in several professional journalistic organizations as well as the Grolier Club. In 1958, Grauer did a radio interview with Harrison D. Horblit about the Grolier Club Exhibition, One Hundred Books Famous in Science. Bound in the original blue wraps, printed in black. Cover is only Good, with several small edge chips. Internally Very Good, albiet with Grauer's numerous pencil notes, mostly in the margins. 1917. First Edition. This is a descriptive and annotated bibliography of all 164 Grolier Club publications through 1916. Printed at the Gilliss Press. . First Edition, Limited 1000 copies. Softcover.
