Condition: A sound copy with slight wear but it has survived very well over eighty years: dark blue/grey hard casing without marks or scuffs, text clean, page binding sound.

Collection of 36 letters written by Darwin to his family during his epochal voyage, edited and introduced by his granddaughter, with Darwin's own drawings and supporting material. Catalogue: Letters. Fold-out map of journeys in very good condition. Keywords: evolution, Galapagos, Andes, nature. The former owner of this book had the interesting habit of inserting, sometimes "tipped in" - sometimes loose, newspaper articles, photos, postcards, etc relating to the book. There are a few such items in this book. Whilst you could say this is damaging the quality of the book, it also adds a lot of interesting context around the suject matter so I have not attempted to remove these items. He also sometimes added his own notes written in pen or pencil - not often, but interesting. Clearly an academic gentleman ! Please ask if you would like more information or photos.
