Hardcover. Condición: New. XIII, 383 pages in Italian, illustrations 30 cm x 21 cm. 'One of the most valuable creations of the Etruscan bronze craftsmen was the rod tripod, a kind of stand that was assembled from several cast parts and decorated with small figurative decorations. As one of the most important and meaningful elements of banquet accessories, they were often part of lavish tomb decorations both inside and outside Etruria, and because of their symbolic value, they were even consecrated in shrines. Their peculiarity emerges mainly from the figurative representations that adorned them and at the same time identified them as carriers of mythological stories. A detailed study clarifies the typological connections between these Etruscan works of art and their models from the Middle East and Greece by carefully examining all of their technological and stylistic aspects. Thus, the importance of rod tripods and their nature of objects of prestige for the Etruscan and non-Etruscan elites is fully revealed.'.
