Giustiniani (Memorie storiche degli scrittori legali del regno di Napoli, I, pp. 91-97) dedica ampio spazio alla biografia del giureconsulto napoletano Domenico Aulisio (1649-1717). Fu protagonista della vita culturale della città e ottenne la cattedra di diritto civile a Napoli nel 1696 succedendo a Felice Acquadia. Ebbe dapprima rapporti burrascosi con Giambattista Vico, divenuti poi amichevoli dopo la pubblicazione del De universi iuris uno principio avvenuta nel 1708. Così la voce A. curata da Filippo Liotta nel Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani (vol. IV), a proposito di questi commentari: âSebbene la pubblicazione sia stata ricavata da appunti per le lezioni e schede personali - e per ciò sovente incompleta -, essa è notevole nella letteratura giuridica del tempo per la chiarezza dell'impostazione e del dettato, la straordinaria ricchezza della documentazione, la modernità dell'informazione: tutti elementi che ci danno la misura di un intelletto vigile ed attento alla voce delle fonti e della dottrina.
