Octavo. First edition revised in a 2 volume set with diagrams on 10 folded leaves of plates. During the last decades of the 18th century, the French established the supremacy of analytics over synthetic-geometric mathematics. As early as the year 1800 the monthly review, #32 published: "Lacroix on the differential and integral calculus.," which developed and challenged Cambridge's entire educational system. This more massive work by J.M.F. Wright continued to integrate applied mathematics with purely theoretical. Later Wright also applied this to expand on Newton's views. The problems still challenge advanced mathematicians today as citations in the literature since 2005 indicate. Very scarce thought ex-library. Bound in green embossed cloth, rebacked with old spine laid down, spine is faded, library label to front pastedowns, shelf number to spine.
