Hardcover. 139pp. Oblong quarto [25.5 cm x 30 cm] Blue cloth covered boards with red ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Very good. The edges of the covers are a bit dulled, and the foot of the spine is mildly bumped. The top edge of the text block is gently soiled. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with general surface rubbing. There are several barely perceptible moisture stains on the jacket. The front inside flap has a small crease. "I found Laura Wilson's book engrossing. She catches the spirit of Texas ranching and the cowman almost perfectly. One is always aware that Watt Matthews and his family, as well as the people in Albany, Texas, are aware of a wider world. This is one of the best treatments of Texas cattle ranching that I have read." - William H. Goetzmann, Jack Blanton Professor of American History, The University of Texas at Austin.
