Booklet. Condición: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Jacket As Issued. George Alfred Williams Ilustrador. First Edition. The Adventures of Jack and Betty was written by Clara Andrews Williams and illustrated by George Alfred Williams. The book was published by The Crowell Publishing Company in 1914 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as such. It's not an ex-library copy and is, actually, a booklet in good condition with 8 pages including the front and back covers. The illustrations are colorful and charming, but what sets it apart is: "Follow these instructions carefully and you will not only go on an adventure with Jack and Betty, but you will have two delightful little paper-doll toys to play with." They're still there and have not been cut out and used. It's an interesting vintage piece. Thank you!.

Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. 82 Pp. Soft Cover. First Printing. Light Usage, Browning Around Spine, No Marks Or Damage. The Amazing Thing Is That The Left Found No Way To Similarly Poll Non-Authors Such As American Businessmen, Or Local, State And Federal Politicians, Or Academics In Any Fields (Or All Of These): The Self-Appointed Leftist Establishment Believes That Fictioneers And Propagandists Are The Essence Of The World, And Thereby Miss Almost Everyone Else. Their "Pressure" Is Applied Mostly On The Choir Rather Than The Congregation, And Has No Practical Effect On The Vast Majority Of People ( Despite Often Arousing Their Sympathies). The Western Governments, Businesses And Academics Recognized The Spanish Revolutionary Right Wing, Explicitly Supported By Hitler And Mussolini, Preferring It Over A Democratically Elected European Government, And Refrained From Criticizing Or Pressuring Them For Sixty Years. All Dictatorships Forbid Personal Attacks On Their, But Democracies Manage Somehow To Also Refrain From Directly Criticizing Them As Leaders. The Losers In Spain Were Killed, Imprisoned, Exiled Or Disenfranchised, And Financially Ruined, But That Was Ok With Everyone Except The "Left"- Although, Folks, It Was Not A Leftist Issue, It Was An Issue Of Whether Democratic Principles Trump Convenience And Self-Interest Or Not, And This Was Somehow Found To Be A Knotty Issue By Western (And Eastern) Politicians.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good +. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Viii, 182 Pp. Red Cloth, Spine Lettered In Black. First Printing. Lightly Used, Very Good + With Faint Bookseller's Stamp On Front Pastedown. Dust Jacket With Wear At Edges, Not Price-Clipped. Well-Meaning Questions Based On An Adversarial View Of History As A Zero-Sum Game As Asked By Someone With No Expertise In Government Administration Or Social Psychology Or Indeed History, The Questions Were Posed To A Panel Of Somewhat Well-Known Personalities With Presumed Good Will And Social Influence But Only A Few With World Class Intellectual Achievements And None With Any Long-Term Experience Working In A Government Administrative Program, And None With Known Expertise Or Originality In Psychology Or Social Psychology, The Lack Of Real Expertise In Government Limits Their Ability To Speak On Any Question Requiring Government Involvement; And Their Lack Of Deep Knowledge Of Human Psycho-History Limited The Usefulness Of Their Well-Meaning Comments On The Future Of Human Individual Behavior. In Other Words, A 1940'S Poll Comparable To A Modern News Or Facebook Discussion Which Is Interesting Only As A Good Example Of How The Celebrity-Comment Format Is Not Only Not New, It's The Basis Of Printed Mass-Market Communication And Has Been "Forever". This Model Of Establishing "Acceptable" Thought And Conceptual Paradigms Through Celebrity Discussion Depends Upon One Primary Method: Avoidance Of Any Direct Criticism Of Anyone For Making "Stupid" Or Immoral" 'Unethical" Judgments, And Removing Any Hint That The Statements Of Others Should Be Evaluated On Those Grounds. As The Chinese Government Just Very Recently Has Started To Move In The Direction Of Stigmatizing The Stupid And Immoral And Explaining Why, They Seek The Moral High Ground Long Claimed By The West, Which Largely Refuses To Stigmatize The Stupid Or Immoral. The Only Explanation Iks That The Public Has An Overwhelming Need To Believe That Their Leaders Have A Philosophy Of Government And Behavior When There Is No Evidence Of Such Anywhere; Probably A Need To Substitute Something For The Blind Obedience And Loyalty Which Characterized Pre-Democratic Life Everywhere.

/George Alfred Williams, illustrator. Ilustrador. CONDITION: Fair; no names, hinges sturdy, warped boards have water spots, rubs, and soil, especially in margins and edges, and spine cloth in poor condition; endpapers bubbled with margin soil; nice title page, all pages are glued with all pieces apparently present (two small feet cracks), three professionally glued margin tears; judging by title page, paper is fairly light in tone but offset from pieces make it appear unevenly soiled and darker. Picture Book hardback tall shabby Magnificent pictures of the animals: constructing the ark, running toward it in a storm, drowning in the flood, sitting at dinner in the ark, playing, dancing, conferring with Noah, and racing off onto dry land two by two. Apparently done by a careful older child, so that the cutting of the black lines is not perfect and a few of the placements are debatable, but a wonderful piece and hard to find in this series. ABE Heritage Seller since 1996; conservative AB condition grading. We ship all our books in cardboard protection. International shipping. /George Alfred Williams, illustrator.
