Hardcover. Condición: Good. Small folio. Measuring 9½" x 12¼". Contemporary half calf and pebbled cloth over boards, gilt spine with raised bands, initials "C. E. B." stamped in gold on front cover, marbled endpapers and edges. Near contemporary ink owner name in ink on front fly leaf ("J.F. Macdonald"). Contains 38 piano vocal sheet music scores, including 21 minstrel songs, a total of 227 pages, with ink number stamped at the upper right corner (recto and verso) of each leaf. The joints and edges of the boards are worn, scattered foxing, good or better overall, with a few covers cropped as usual. A unique, custom bound collection of sheet music scores all with original covers, over half of which (21) are minstrel songs by Edwin Christy, Stephen Foster, W.D. Corrister, among other lyricists and composers, including songs written and composed for various popular minstrel troupes. Among the 21 minstrel songs, 11 are illustrated with lithographic covers, and most are scarce: the volume contains one minstrel song with no copies in *OCLC*, two with only one holding, and five with only three holdings. Included among the other 17 scores are several popular songs and ballads, most with music composed by J.R. Thomas. An uncommon volume with a significant number of minstrel songs. A detailed list of all 21 minstrel songs is available.
