Pages are toned but otherwise clean, unmarked except for typical library treatments and an owner's stamp on title page. Title page verso and contents page reinforced with tape. Final 2 pp of advertisements printed on cheaper paper and are heavily toned, very fragile. Boards covered with medium blue fabric, gilt titling on front cover. Very worn around all edges; worn through to boards at tail of spine; top of spine and corners are bumped and beginning to fray. Covers and spine are rubbed to whiteness in many places. Binding still solid.

Light shelf wear to edges and small stain to rear board corner, remains Very Good plus. The contents are tightly bound with a few penciled notes and an old water stain at on some text page corners. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. There is a number and Mercantile Library stamp on the title page and some of the internal pages. There are no other indications of the library's ownership.
