Original grey embossed stiff wraps with title and author's name and Confederate symbol in black.Published 194[?].Frontispiece is a photograph of a stone memorial erected by the Daughter's of the Confederacy in honor of the soldiers and citizens, who in the line of duty guarded the 6500 Union prisoners who were held captive at the Florence Stockade. The Florence Stockade came about due to Sherman's March through the South. His army was at one point headed for Andersonville Prison and the Confederate command wanted to house these Union prisoners further south. The author served with the Co.,D,2nd South Carolina Heavy Artillery. Woods tells of his experiences guarding the Union prisoners.Towards the end of the war this regiment was incorporated into the Infantry. This pamphlet is in perfect condition and is unread.
