Includes the bookplate of publisher Hamilton Holt along with a gift notation to the Holts signed by what looks like someone by the name of E Hohne. First Edition. Soft Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Chips and tears to the head and tail of spine; creasing along spine; bottom two thirds of front cover is detached, starting at back cover, tender at gutters; light edgewear and toning to wraps; edges of text block lightly toned and foxed, top edge gently cockled; age toning and moderate spotting to matte pages, heavier near gloss pages; gloss pages are slightly yellowed with age at outer margins but otherwise mostly clean and bright. Art in Australia was an Australian art magazine founded by Sydney Ure Smith and Bertram Stevens and published between 1916 and 1942. This edition features Norman Lindsay's etching â Debut,' although it is incorrectly listed in the contents page as â The Toilet.'.

Stiff card covers with a matte finish teal paper dust wrapper printed in black and white. The teal cover is attached at the spine, and quite worn there, with a bit of edgewear, a few small holes along the flap crease, a couple of spots with remains of a small red and white sticker, and a large, pale coffee ring on the front cover. Owner gift inscription on copyright page. Considerable foxing on the end papers. Pressed plant remains laid in. Brief biographies of artists accompany the 17 tipped in plates. Promotional jacket very browned and with torn folds (with some loss), spine panel with larger defect to bottom third, a few old tape repairs * A 1935 inscription and a pencil note stating that this was the copy of the Jersey artist Edmund Blampied. * The special feature of this copy is the presence of a rare promotional dustjacket, stating at the head of the front panel 'Just Out' and below some text about the book and the artist 'This volume will not be reprinted. Only a limited number remain for sale'. The bottom half of the front and the entire back of the jacket with reprints of favourable press notices.
