Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. First pocket edition; originally published in 1920. Blue cloth boards with gilt title lettering on spine and gilt motif in centre of front board. Boards are clean enough however they do look a little handled and rubbed at the extremities. Nothing severe but, still, worthy of a mention here. Penned inscription on front paste down and initials of ffep. Pages a little toned looking throughout due to paper stock used in proiduction. Unfortunate tear and small piece missing at the foot of the page from p1 of the story. This is not very noticeable unless you are looking for it, as it does not eat into the text at all except very slightly on p2. In all still a very decent copy of a scarce book.

Hardback. Condición: Reading copy only. Hardback. Fist edition. "I would like, to begin with, to say that though parents, husbands, children, lovers and friends are all very well, they are not dogs. In my day and turn having been each of the above,â "except that instead of husbands I was wives,â "I know what I am talking about, and am well acquainted with the ups and downs, the daily ups and downs, the sometimes almost hourly ones in the thin-skinned, which seem inevitably to accompany human loves. Dogs are free from these fluctuations. Once they love, they love steadily, unchangingly, till their last breath. That is how I like to be loved. Therefore I will write of dogs." From Bijou, her very first dog, to Chunkie and Knobbie, her favourite, and last, canine companions, Elizabeth von Arnim takes us through her life in dogs. With a number of black and white photos of Elizabeth and her dogs. Green cloth is heavily damaged to surface with a lot of colour loss. Binding is sound. Dust jacket is dust marked to cream background and gas a number of tiny chips and short closed tears. Reading copy only.
