24p., sewn signature in paste-fastened pinkish self-wraps, titling in different fonts with wood-engraved device (eagle perched on grasped hands), 9x5.7 inches. Original thread present and well-preserved, no foxing, dust-soiled covers, mildest edgewear and pressure marks, old pencilled numerals (to instruct filing). A very good copy. Page the first reproduces text of the handout distributed (our assumption) to convene and induce attendance, comprised of a list of mottos and themes. Then follows a next-day account of the event "from the admirable reports in the World, Daily News, Daily Times, Herald, and Sun. "Attendance was by far greater than that of any political gathering ever before assembled in this city" (100,000 est.). Speakers were General Dix, Samuel Tilden, John T. Hoffman, Robert H. Pruyn, Governor Parson, Wilkinson Call, and John G. Saxe. Fireworks are described, lyrics of songs sung are given.
