Card cover spotted and sunned, grubby, spine faded, spine extremities chipped and torn, small chip to upper right rear, spine has seemingly been repaired at some time, age-toned, bookseller's stamp and penned date at free front endpaper, some discolouration, lightly flecked at front cover, foxing. With colour frontispiece and b&w plates, with a fold out map of 'The Punjab and Transoxiana' by the author, dated 1909, which is quite brown on verso but clear and bright. Pictures available on request.

Memoirs of Babar, Emperor of India, First of the Great Moghals: Being an Abridgment with an Introduction, Supplementary Notes, and some account of his successors. By Lieu-Colonel F G Talbus. First Edition, published Lahore, 1965. 25 Illustrations. Red cloth hard cover with no titles. Pages are clean and binding is just a little loose. 254 pp including index. The memoirs of Baber, written by himself, were translated into English by John Leyden and William Erskine, and were published in 1826. Talbot's book is an abridged version of the memoirs, but very much based on the original transaltion of 1826. Dates in the Talbot version are according to the Christian rather than Mahomedan era. Illustrations are reproduced from manuscripts in the British Museum.
