Later printing. Small 4to, 672 pp. "A New Impression with Two Hundred and Sixty-Five Illustrations." Twainesque saunter through Texas, filled with humorous incident. Sweet was a prominent Texas newspaperman, who had a column called Texas Siftings, which he periodically published in book form. His popularity was great, even outside of Texas -- in New York and London, for example, he maintained offices. The Handbook of Texas calls him the best "Texian" humorist of the 19th century. Fine copy in red decorative cloth.
