Hardcover, laminate cover over boards. 199 pp., text in Dutch and English, notes, bibliography, biographies, index; In the mid 1980s, the Groninger Museum could serious turn its thoughts to a new building thanks to a generous gift from the local gas company (Gasunie). The locals really wanted nothing and the museum director Frans Haks everything, providing Italian designer Mendini as the architect. Mendini sought collaboration with an international coterie of architects, designers and artists, to bring to the homogeneous framework of the main statement a heterogeneous collage of architectural ideas. This hardcover edition, limited to 1000 copies, is a book about the creation of the remarkable Groninger Museum, richly illustrated and with collaboration of a large number of contributing authors/ designers and bookdesign by Swip Stolk. Good.
