Fair to Good with NF textblock. Lib indications are stamp to lower page edges; 3 3/4" x 2" plain card pocket to rear free endpaper; cellophane tape shadows off mid front and rear edges (no call number to spine; no stamps within text, no checksheet, etc.). Boards and cloth clean and sharp though corners strongly bumped; spine slant (moderate at upper end, strong at lower) with no effect on strong binding that opens flat at pp.88-89; extreemely mild play to rear hinge. Text and figures all clean and unmarked. Artwork all strongly colored and beautiful (though obscred by pocket on rear).

Jacket is at least Very Good Plus, original $6 price intact, light corner wear, spine lightly chipped on head and heel and darken a bit, rear panel a little darker on top edge and 1.5 inches along spine, still shows bright and clean in a new mylar sleeve. Volume is 9.5 inches height by 6.85 inches in width. Very nice Steinbeck classic at a bargain price. Professionally shipped.

Book is unopened, unread, and totally unmarked in mint condition and jacket is priced ($6.00) and very fine, with very slight wear to spine ends. This copy is quarter bound in black cloth with gilt lettering over the variant light green cloth, with fine green top stain. This is the story of Danny in the tumble down section of Monterey known as Tortilla Flat and has long been one of Steinbeck's best loved books. This is a fine and rare collectible. Protected in Mylar. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
