softcover stapled wrappers (VG); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage costs.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. pp: 346. "The story of a group of Canadian Army Officers who volunteered to serve in the British Army in Euorpe between D-Day, 1944 and VE-Day, 1945." The Canadians who served this way mostly mirrored the battle fought by the Canadian Army, although there were some variations. Generally, they served in Northwest Europe, making them available to the Canadian Army if needed. The exception was a group of four men who fought with the Irish Fusiliers in Italy. The book includes a section of vintage photographs, an Honour Roll, a copy of the brochure given to prospective officers, and a roster of Canloan officers with name, rank, date killed, honours awarded, and the British unit in which they served. This is a fine copy in dust jacket.

Libro Original o primera edición
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. 346 pages including glossary, notes, index and black and white photographic plates. The story of a group of Canadian Army officers who volunteered to serve in the British Army in Europe between D-Day, 1944, and V-E Day, 1945, in a scheme called CANLOAN. Author was one of the participants and has based this work upon research supplemented by the recollections of survivors. A vivid account both of the experiences of the CANLOAN officers and of the scheme itself, from the initial concept to its realization. Presents slit-trench views of the battles in Normandy, Arnhem, Italy, the Rhineland and beyond the Rhine. Covers the role of the platoon commander in battle, the experiences of prisoners of war, the wounded, and the 50 Ordnance Corps volunteers who with 623 junior infantry officers made up CANLOAN. This copy appears to have come from a low circulation library, perhaps in a senior's home. Stickers have been removed from dust jacket and their former presence is nearly invisible. Otherwise, dust jacket remains very attractive and shows only light wear. Prior owner's address label and three small library stamps upon decorated front endpaper. No other markings to book which is clean and bears light wear. Blue boards decorated with gilt. A lovely copy.
