Title-page with soil; toning and marginal losses to two leaves, not affecting text; very pale violet rubber stamp of old institution scattered throughout; Very Good. Published by antiquary and bookseller William Gowans, an 1862 edition of this late 17th century description of New York City and New York Province and its fortifications in Manhattan, Albany, and Schenectady etc., as witnessed by Rev. John Miller who lived in New York from 1693 to 1695 and ".was for a time chaplain to the troops in the fort, and sole Episcopal clergyman in the colony." (p[9]) With introduction and 29 pages of historical notes by American historian John Gilmary Shea (1824-1892), a native of New York City. Printed by J. Munsell of Albany. See Howes M-610.
