Pratt was a successful and popular portrait artist of the late Colonial period, and although he himself provided details of his life (written for the benefit of his young son), he has remained a mostly obscure artist. This book contains a chronology of the artist's life, Pratt's own autobiographical notes, genealogical notes on the Pratt family, period newspaper advertisements by and about Pratt, and a catalogue raisonne of Pratt's works.
