Hard Cover. Condición: Fair to Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair to Good. 1st Ed. 326 pages. Ex-library. From the dust jacket: "Harry Lillis Crosby was a much-loved superstar who made over seventy feature films and sold over 500 million records. But behind the scenes, he was viciously selfish, mistreating those around him for his driving ambitions of fortune and fame. Onstage he was every woman's dream husband, but offstage he constantly abused his legenday wife, Dixie Lee, leaving for Europe as she lay dying of cancer. Onstage he was everyone's ideal 'father of the year', but offstage he was cruel and cold to his children, discarding his first family for a second one, then turning against them as well. Onstage, he was a moral, honest man of God, but offstage he was a desperate near-alcoholic a lonely man who could betray his friends (such as the original Rhythm Boys) for the sake of his own success. Harry Lillis Crosby was a symbol of everything good in the lives of a whole generation, but behind it all he was Bing Crosby: the Hollow Man.". Biography.

Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very good condition color illustrated softcover wraps. Includes Preliminary Page Note entitled: Marilyn; Acknowledgments; Author's Note; Prologue; Foreword; Epilogue; Appendixes; Addenda; Bibliography; Filmography and Index. Illustrated with a section of black-and-white photographic plates. Creasing to the lower right front cover and spine. The pages have age-darkened but are all otherwise in fine unmarked condition (see photographs). Rare first edition, first printing Pinnacle Books softcover edition. "Bizarre and disturbing.touching and convincing." - Publishers Weekly. "Until this highly outspoken and controversial book burst into public only a few people knew that the author had been the secret husband of Marilyn Monroe for a short time during their intimate sixteen-year relationship. In this book Robert Slatzer finally sets the record straight on many of the legends, half-truths, and lies surrounding the glamorous image of Hollywood's greatest sex symbol. This is a tender, affectionate, totally honest and revealing work. Yet it is full of surprises and explosive information. For instance. The truth about Marilyn's birth and childhood; The secret marriage - before DiMaggio and Miller; The facts of her involvement with the Kennedys'; Startling new information about her alleged suicide; Documented evidence that demands an inquest; Photographs, testimony/court documents, filmography, index." - from the rear outer cover.

Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. Illustrated by (cover photo) Tennen-Levine Ilustrador. 1st Edition. [nice tight copy, light horizontal crease near top of front cover]. Mass Market PB INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the inside front cover. A novel about a Governor whose re-election campaign is imperiled when he's involved in an accident that results in the death of a young woman, and has to cover it up; the similarities to Teddy Kennedy's 1969 Chappaquiddick plunge are probably not coincidental. The bio material on Slatzer touts "his friendship and acquaintance with every President since Harry Truman," and his purportedly extensive credits in the movie and TV biz (which in the end didn't amount to much) -- but he'll ultimately be remembered for his claim, in a book published two years after this one, that he had been secretly married to Marilyn Monroe in Mexico in 1952, and that the marriage had been broken up by Fox studio chief Darryl Zanuck. Signed by Author. Signed by Author(s).
