First edition. Hardcover book bound in the publisher's original full olive cloth-gilt. 18 cm. 431 pages. Gilt spine and end pages designed by Reginald Knowles. Part of the publisher's "Everyman's Library" series. Thirteen headings are listed on the advertisements page. No text present on the copyright page. Contains the following plays: All for Love, The Country Wife, The Way of the World, Venice Preserved, The Beaux-Stratagem, and The Provoked Wife. The book is in near fine condition. Some pencil underlining to the introduction. No markings to the interior text. Hinges tight, pages bright. Browning/offsetting to the front/back matter. Light edge wear/bumping to the cloth covers.

Thomas Dekker, clean bar two whitish smudges bottom sp., outer corners bumped. f/piece+ xlvi + 473 + colophon, floral t.p.'s head-pieces, end-pieces and initial capitals throughout; paste-downs have centrally printed red ex-libris panels as published, front one has a prev. owner's sig., front end-paper has tanning to oute side and series list verso, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked. This has 5 of Dekker's plays, Rhys's extensive opening essay on Dekker is, academically, the main merit of this Mermaid edition. A very acceptable copy.13.5 cm x 19 cm.

Bound in full vellum with decorative pictorial borders and title design to cover and spine in gilt. Top edge gilt; other edges untrimmed. This vellum bound edition uniform with other Rhys edited "Lyrical Poets" volumes published by Dent at this time. Prior owner gift inscription to front endpage dated 1896. Illustrated with an etched frontis portrait of Sidney, with tissue guard. Offset toning to the pictorial title page from the guard. Expected light toning to page stock. One of the exquisite little volumes published by Dent at the turn of the century. VG.

Leather Bound. pp. xv, 305. 12mo., measuring 7" x 4.5". Bound in original quarter leather over like cloth boards with gilt lettering and ornamentation to the spine, publisher's topstain. Faintest edgewear, else, extremities exceptionally well-preserved, text-block remains without blemish; near fine. The leather exterior has recently been professionally replenished, and treated with a natural leather preserver. A lovely, and scarce offering of the leatherbound edition of this volume. Near fine.
