Contains 254 printed pages of text, section of the upper front cover of the dust wrapper loosely enclosed. Shallow rubs to the spine tips, ghosting to the end papers, tan age spots to the page edges, ink marking to the front free end paper and in near Very Good condition, no dust wrapper. Reith played a formative role in the development of the British Broadcasting Company, serving as its first General Manager (1922) and Managing Director (1923). In 1927 he became Director-General when the BBC was incorporated under royal charter. Reith established the tradition of public service broadcasting based on the moral benefits of education and uplifting entertainment, and the principle of independence from commercial influence and political control.
