Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. Edition of 500, this being number 399. Sweetly inscribed by editor Sam Ashby. A rare example of the inaugural issue of estimable London-based magazine of queer cinema and culture Little Joe. Described variously as a "queer cinema bible" and "mapping the subterranean canon of queer cinema, past and present, drawing together its many and varied histories, frequently from the margins (vanguards?) of taste and style" (Light Industry), the project has since expanded to host film programs and other events. This issue with contributions from Cam Archer, Jack Barnes, Paul Burston, Rick Castro, Fritz Haeg, Stuart Henderson, William & Jones, Hynam Kendall, Michael Linington, Feargus O'Sullivan, William Maltese, Yvan Martinez, Frederico Pellacin, Ryan Powell, John David Rhodes, Stuart Sandford, and Joshua Trees. 5.5" x 8.5" softcover book in card wraps. 80pp. with b/w and color illustrations. With 3 folded, laid-in photo prints. With moderate bumps to page and cover corners. Mild shelfwear otherwise, though covers a bit curled. Binding firm, pages crisp and unmarked. Rare. Inscribed by Author(s).

Photograph. Condición: Fine. Presidential briefing on Operation Uphold Democracy at the White House on September 19, 1994, photograph signed by former President Jimmy Carter, Senator Sam Nunn, General Colin Powell and President Bill Clinton. Ilustrador. Signed Photograph. This color photograph was taken by White House photographer Bob McNeely in the White House Residence Treaty Room, during a "working breakfast meeting" on the situation in Haiti. Also in attendance at the meeting were President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, Vice President Al Gore, Tony Lake and Leon Panetta. This meeting was followed by a press conference the same day. Photograph is signed in the border along the bottom and measures 8" x 10". A fine piece, capturing an important diplomatic victory for the Clinton Administration and former President Jimmy Carter. Operation Uphold Democracy was in response to the 1991 Haitian coup d'état, where the democratically elected President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was deposed by Army General Raoul Cédras. In 1994, a delegation led by former President Jimmy Carter, along with Senator Sam Nunn and General Colin Powell, urged Provisional President Émile Jonassaint and General Cédras to relinquish control or face an invasion by the 82nd Airborne Division. President Aristide returned to power in October 1994, with a UN peacekeeping force remaining in Haiti until 2000.
