No Jacket. 507 pages; string binding; pages tight; few markings and underlining; Pages show some darkened areas; slight foxing; page edges darkened and foxed. marble end pages; Front inner spine crease weakened and slightly split but pages intact. moderate page wear. Front leather cover is excised from book; back leather cover has gild border and oval gild illustration Leather edges worn and rubbed with corners bumped and frayed. Portions of spine are excised, exposing underneath cardboard binding . End pages show some smudges and soiling. Preface in front acknowledges translator's endeavour to revive the ancient Greek writings to useful reading to any person in any age. Writings include the dramas of Bacchae; Ion; Alcestis; Medea; Hippolytus; The Phoenician Virgins; Supplicants; and Hercules. VERY RARE VINTAGE COPY.
