In a brown dust jacket with black titles to front. 40 pp.The title page has the name of a former owner, Julian S. Huxley, written (slightly smudged) to the top of the page. Professor Julian S. Huxley was a lecturer at Oxford and the father of Aldous. Laid in is a rather breathless letter from the author signed "your awarkward admirer, David Posner" on Wadham College stationery. The book is in very good condition with just some minor sun damage to the top of the cover, the contents are clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is good with minor sun damage and minor shelf-wear to extremities.

In 1953, Posner returned to formal academic pursuits and studied modern languages at Wadham College, Oxford. Posner also began writing poetry, in fact his poem, 'The Deserted Altar,' won the Newdigate Prize for English Verse in 1956. From 1957-1969, Posner was an English instructor and Assistant Curator of Poetry at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He became an assistant professor of English at the University of California and remained there until 1973. First edition (first printing). Very good in printed wrappers outside illustrated red wrappers, stapled. Small clipping from newspaper announcing that Posner has won the Roger Newdigate poetry prize for 1956 pasted to front free endpaper. Outside wrapper has separated from inside wrapper. Outside wrapper mildly soiled. Rust from paperclip on verso of rear free endpaper.
