Hardcover. Condición: VG. Estado de la sobrecubierta: G+. Photos Ilustrador. 1st Thus. When Floyd Patters won the world heavyweight boxing championship over Archie Moore, in an elimination for the title after Rocky Marciano retired in the mid-1950s, he was 22 years old and the yougest fighter to take the title, later he was the first to regain a lost heavyweight championship. His biography, assisted by Milton Gross, is a very personal story as well as highlighting some of his classic ring encounters, including his Gold Medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. The title comes from his upbring in poor circumstances, in a large family, and how his mother's influence took his from the mean streets of New York to the pinnacle of Olympic and professional boxing. First published in the US, this first British printing in 1962. 206 pages, nine pages b/w photos, two showing seqence shots of important KOs. Black hard covers with white spine titles VG, small inked name top FFEP with small undulating area and impression from pen, text block otherwise excellent with few small marginal marks. G+ price clipped pictorial DJ with tape repair spine top, small sections missing rear top corner, front corners and spine base, few short tears/chips. A scarce book.
