The work embodies the classic moral tales that were often found children's books of the time. Written by Newman Harding. Illustrated by Harold Robert Millar, a prolific book illustrator. Millar also illustrated Harding's 'The Little Black Monkey'. With a colour frontispiece, a further five coloured plates, and numerous in-text monochrome illustrations. Prize plate to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Country Borough of Westham Presented to Sladyo Clyres for Profess in Industry Head teacher I. Smolan School Crodon Road ig 23'. Undated, dated from Copac. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards, and with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart. Light tidemarking to the fore edges to the boards. Very minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prize plate to the recto to the front endpaper. Booksellers stamp to the verso to the rear endpaper, 'Boardmans Booksellers Stratford, E.'. Dustwrapper with some light tidemarking and marking to the wraps, with some discolouration and marking to the spine. Closed tear to the front joint. Small chips to the head and tail of the spine.
