Hard Cover. The book suffers from the usual library damage - stamps, cancelled stamps and library pocket. Worst still the protective covering was glued to the boards, when this was removed it left behind remnant sticky tape and bits of brown paper. The faults are superficial, internally it remains a very good copy in solid binding with little sign of use. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex Library.

Endpaper maps, 257pp, index, dustjacket rubbed and worn, good copy. "James Mossman, who covered the early phases of the war as a foreign correspondent, travelled through thousands of miles of Sumatra and the northern islands with both rebel and loyalist armies. He uses the story of his travels as a framework around which to build an impression of the country's difficulties and, more broadly, speculates about the problems that face all newly independent, underdeveloped states which are trying to find a place in the modern world". (Publisher's blurb on dustjacket).
