Green cloth; a pastedown illustration is on the spine and on the top end of the front board; the front board's illustration continues onto the bottom end with brown and black print on the cloth. 208 pages; 25 stories/articles; 8 color plates on dark green mat; numerous b & w illustrations and vignettes (on the page corners for each story). Illustrated endpapers have horses in brown ink. Frontal matter has browntone illustrations. The text block ends are dark green. Cover: ends of spine are softened; one corner is rubbed through to the board; front joint is faded; a third of the the back board has a stain; the illustrations have rubbed spots; shelf wear soiling. The endpapers are cracked over the hinges; the hinges have been repaired, but it is difficult to see the type of repair. Three of the color plates each have a 1/8 in. rubbed spot on an edge. Several pages have fingerprint soiling. Scans e-mailed upon request.
