1p., 4to. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper. With the date stamps of the Royal Society of Arts. He thanks him for 'the cuttings, several of which I had not seen', and states that he will be delighted to 'present a copy of my book to your library'. He had been meaning to give one 'at the conclusion of the exhibition'. He is grateful to Menzies for offering to review the book in the Society's journal, and is 'already so much indebted to te Royal Society of Arts for kindness received'. (The Society and Domville-Fife's offices were in close proximity.) He is enclosing a copy of a book, 'which is great undertaking when one has other duties to perform. The first run is 60,000 copies and it is going all over the Empire'. The prospectus for 'The Encyclopaedia of the British Empire' ('The First Encyclopedic Record of the Greatest Empire in the History of the World.') is 4pp., 4to. With text in blue and cover strikingly printed in colour, and depicting a lantern-jawed Englishman poring over a map of the British Empire.

Despite the fact that Reynolds and Crookes s X-ray apparatus is now in the Science Museum at South Kensington, Reynolds has no entry in the Oxford DNB, although Crookes s entry can be consulted. The two items are in good condition, lightly aged and worn. Both folded several times. Both 1p, 4to, and both signed Russell J. Reynolds . ONE: Addressed to G. K. Menzies of the Royal Society of Arts. With recipient's red pencil tick. Having received his letter enclosing a copy of the list of Fellows of the Royal Society of Arts , he undertakes to send a copy of the revised list of the Members of the Rontgen Society , which will soon be published. I am sure the Members will appreciate any invitations you may send for meetings. TWO: Addressed to the Secretary, Royal Society of Arts. With date stamp of receipt, and short shorthand note in pencil. He is grateful to the Council of the Society for nominating me to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts. It will give me great pleasure to become a Fellow. Of course, I well know of its activities, but it is many years since I attended a meeting. He thanks him for sending a copy of the programme of lectures, and asks for a specimen copy of the Journal . He is returning the completed form of Fellowship .
