Illustrated with pictures of Athens from the time 'the successive visits of the "travellers" and "painters" began in 1650, until 1869-70 when the construction of the railway linking Athens and Piraeus was completed (considered to be a milestone in the history of modern Athens.).' 66 plates in colour and b/w of drawings, maps, plans, paintings, close-ups of architectural features. Internally, the book is mildly tanned in places - but the main condition-related issue of this book is that of the cover boards where the paper covering is torn (closed tears) and very scuffed in places; mainly on the front cover.
