In his travels during 1615, Champlain visited an Indian town, known as Cahiague, which apparently had a population of about 5,000 inhabitants, and must have been the largest settlement in Canada at the time. This article is about an archaeological expedition in 1946, which uncovered that site in north Simcoe County, near the hamlet of Warminster.
