Joy opened Eugene O'Neill's "The Iceman Cometh" in NY in 1946, at the Martin Beck Theatre and the review by Brooks Atkinson states "Nicholas Joy is giving the best performance of his career as the unfrocked captain." Joy has drawn a self portrait of himself sitting dejectedly at Harry Hope's Bar, & he makes reference to a Vuillard designed stage set for "Le Malade Imaginaire", in which he is one of the actors in the set. 8vo, 210pp, illustrated throughout with pastels, paintings, prints, set designs. Original decorated wrappers, chip on top edge and fold mark lower front cover. Joy has signed & noted his Paris address on the ffep.
