Hardcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. Lacks dustwrapper, claretboards with gilt titles. Boards have some light rubbing, spine is quite faded and titles are somewhat indistinct. Illustrated, previous owners name to front pastedown, no other inscriptions. Bright and clean internally with little wear, some browning to end papers and very light spotting to edge of text block. Heavy book, will require additional postage outside the UK.

Spine a little faded, and with indentation at title. Stain to front cover. Spotting internally. Plate at pp. 168 loose, with tape marks. Plate at pp. 56 scuffed, and secured with tape. A fair copy. pp. 288.

8vo [23.5 x 15.5 cm]; 288 pp, frontis (portrait), 46 illustrations on plates, map, index. original cloth, gilt spine title lettering, cloth faded from sun, short tear at spine head, edges a little rubbed, signature on endpaper, slightly spotted on title, else clean, very good. The introduction by Dr. G. M. Vevers, superintendent of the London Zoological Society, describes the author as 'a strong advocate of shooting with the camera rather than with the rifle, and realizes full well the importance of preserving big game from extinction for the benefit of future generations'. The author, who had spent over twenty years in Africa, describes hunting elephant with a spear, journey down the Bahr-el-Arab, the Dinkas, witchcraft and superstition, night photography, lions, Habbania, big game and smaller animals, with several chapters on the African elephant. He travelled through Sudan, Abyssinia, Congo, Uganda, Kenya, etc. A picture of this book is available on request.
