The 5 pp. pamphlet tipped in at the front is entitled "A Service of Thanksgiving for Victory" which was attended by Ralph Parrott, a member of the Black Watch and previous owner of this book. Parrot's note in pen on the inside of the front cover of the pamphlet reads "Conduction by Capt. the Rev. Joseph Grant M.C., C.F. Chaplain 6thBn The Black Watch (R.H.R. ), at Ioonnia, Greece, Sunday 13 May1945. Mr. Parrots bookplate is attached on the front pastedown and inside the pamphlet. The book has 40 pp. with a black and white frontis portrait of Robert Grant of Lurg. Deckle edged paper. Tiny bumps to corners, light wear to spine ends, front hinge has a bit of cracking. Very Good.

Blue Cloth Hardback. Condición: Very Good Plus. First Edition. 1932. First edition. 40pp. and a frontispiece portrait of Robert Grant of Lurg. H. D. MacWillkiam (1859-1936) was a Black Watch historian and published three works on the Black Watch, including this account of the origin and history of the tartan worn by the Black Watch. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear on the boards and bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a name and date (1947) written on the front free endpaper. Loosely inserted at the start of the book are two typewritten copies of some correspondence that took place in the pages of The Scotsman in 1881 concerning the Clan Munro, and its connection with the Black Watch.
