Ex-marine historical association library, with a bookplate on the inside front cover. No other library treatments present. Minor scuffing, fading and soiling to the covers. Extremities a bit scuffed and frayed. Light toning to the text block. Some of the photo plates rather foxed.

He gained fame as a foreign correspondent covering the Russian Revolution. In the mid-1920s, working for the Associated Press, he became known for his particpation in long-distance excursions in inlcluding one as a stowaway on a leg of a round-the would flight by the U.,S. Army, the first non-stop automobile trip betwenn Los Angeles and New York, and the then-fastest circumnavigation of the earth , the subject of this memoir.
