Hardcover. Condición: Poor. No Jacket. *** BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THIS BOOK I WILL NOT POST IT TO ANYBODY WHO LIVES OUTSIDE THE UK. WITHIN THE UK YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE FIRST £18 OF POSTAGE - DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO DO SO BECAUSE YOUR ORDER WILL BE REFUSED AND I WILL NOT TRADE WITH YOU AGAIN.*** This is a UK new edition hardcover of this title published by The Waverley Book Company, date unknown but circa 1911. I am listing this book as a reference manual only - it is NOT in collectable condition because of the damage. The spine is straight and binding tight, with several loose pages but the text is complete. As you can see, there is mildew to the boards and also a hole worn in the front cover. When you open the book you can see that mildew has gotten through to the first 25 or so pages, and so have rodents - the bottom edges of the pages are chewed and torn although the text is complete. As you page through the book the rodent damage decreases, as does the mildew, but you're about half way through the book before it becomes negligible. There are 30 colour pates but the frontispiece is damaged by the rodents and mildew - the rest are OK. Quite gutted really because this is a beautiful book and deserved better treatment by its previous owners. I REPEAT: YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO BUY THIS BOOK FOR REFERENCE ONLY, IT IS NOT IN COLLECTABLE CONDITION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

Illustrated with Thirty Coloured Plates and Numerous Other Illustrations Ilustrador. Thorough and complete volume of all knowledge a fowl fancier would want to know, in 1912. Beautiful colored plates, from Speckled Sussex to Gold Spangled Hamburghs, from Buff Cochins to Silver-Grey Dorkings. Included is a chapter on Mendelism by so expert and practical a fancier as the Rev. E. Lewis Jones, B.A. These, if studied in conjunction with Wright's masterly chapter on pedigree or line breeding, will do much to keep poultry-keepers on right lines in raising stock, either for fancy or utility purposes. A further addition is a short life of Lewis Wright by the author. A 1" x 1" black inked out patch on the free front endpaper. A touch of foxing on free front endpaper and back of frontispiece. But it does not affect the plate. A few pages bumped in top corner of text block. A touch of rubbing at corner tips and top and bottom of spine. Overall a very good copy. 627 pp. 4to. 9-1/4" x 10-13/16." A beautiful embossed crimson cloth covered boards stamped in gold. Top edge gilt.
