Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. No Edition Stated. Lot consists of four volumes. All are top edged gilt and uncut fore and bottom edges. Half covers and corners are greenish-blue gilt edged leather. Boards are covered in paper similar to the marblized ep's. All are illustrated with photogravures on Japanese vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions and full page portraits of authors. All volumes are tight and square. (i) 'Letters to His Son on the Fine Art of Becoming a Man of the World and a Gentleman. Volume I: Frontis- Dr. Johnson in the ante-room of Lord Chesterfield's mansion (After painting by E. M. Ward R.A.) Special Introduction by Oliver H. G. Leigh (signed) 408 pp. Some shelf and bottom edge wear, some of the leather scuffed to brown. (ii) Same title Volume II: 435 pp. similar condition. (iii) Conversations with Eckermann being Appreciations and Criticisms on Many Subjects by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe with a preface by Eckermann. Special Introduction by Wallace Wood, LL.D. (signed). Frontis: Goethe at Weimar (after Kaulbach). 394 pp. plus Index. Similar condition to i plus several small white marks to top edge gilt. (vi) Hebraic Literature Translations from The Talmud, Midrashim and Kabbala Special Introduction by Maurice H. Harris, D.D.(signed).
