Interest in the mineral resources of the Trail - Rossland area of Southern British Columbia began as early as 1887. In its prime the area was producing from three major copper-gold deposits: Le Roi, Centre Star andWar Eagle. THESE 107 pages (plus one of advertising ) were drawn from newspaper accounts between 1898 and 1947. Many early mining (and business) corporations were tied financially or metallurgically to places in the U.S. like Spokane, and Billings. LEARN more about : Billy Rugh, Trail Creek, Durant and Tarbet, Father Pat , the 1902 consolidation movement, Ironmask, Crowsnest Pass Railway, and the 1905 explosion at the thawing house. Cond : Boards are light blue with gilt lettering. Gilt coat-of-arms board graphic. Dust jacket is missing. Lightly soiled throughout. Binding sound but boards rubbed or worn at all extremities. No names but store stamp indicates originally sold in Nelson. Short tear in title page. Excellent Canadian mining history reference. Quote (p. 45) : " ._._. on the west end of Columbia Avenue. The ground floor was utilized for billiard rooms, the second floor contained the smoking and reading rooms and a well equipped bar, and on the third floor were the card rooms, committee rooms and several bed rooms for ._._._. ."
