Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. First Edition. Adelaide, Rigby, 1972. Octavo, [viii], 222 pages plus 16 pages of plates. Papered boards; edges a little marked; minor signs of use; an excellent copy with the lightly sunned dustwrapper. The front free endpaper is inscribed 'To Sir Grenfell and | Lady Price | with much thanks | and many regards | from | Monty | Charles P. Mountford' (the anthropologist Charles Pearcy Mountford, 1890-1976). The recipient, Sir Archibald Grenfell Price (1892-1977), geographer, historian and educationist, has annotated in pencil the five pages of Chapter 9, 'The Leichhardt Enigma' (pages 56-60). In 1938, under the auspices of the Royal Geographical Society, South Australian Branch, of which he was the president at the time, Grenfell Price led 'an "inconclusive" expedition to examine supposed remains of the explorer Ludwig Leichhardt'. Mountford was also a member of the expedition, and the chapter deals in some length with it. A few annotations elsewhere include one at the head of the title page: 'The greatest of abo artologists [sic]. AGP'.
