Illustrations with photographs from the author who, at 17, accompanied his father and brother on a trip to Europe and took the notes that led to this book. TEG and deckled side and bottom page edges. The red cloth cover is decorated with the image of a young man with suitcase and knapsack while letters home are shown spilling back home from the journey in progress. Lettering is in gold. The travel account is simple but appealing. This copy has a shadow on the front free endpaper from the Boston Herald clipping of a favorable review of the book that is laid in. The cover is in magnificent condition and it's almost the quintessence of a juvenile book cover (except that the book is intended for an adult audience). Currently protected by a mylar wrapper.
