A general magazine with articles on current events inthe United States, reviews and serializations. Most notable are an unsigned review written by Edgar Allen Poe of a book of poetry by S. Anna Lewis, a notice of the publication of Poe's poem Eureka, and articles on the far west. These articles include one devoted to California, an excerpt from Edwin Bryant's What I Saw in California. Another deals with the establishment of territorial governments in Oregon, New Mexico and California.
