Cloth. Condición: Fine. First Edition. A fine first edition, fondly inscribed on FFE by the author, Molly Miyako Kimura. Blue cloth boards with gilt title stamping. Illustrated. 42 [6] pp. Folio. "Nisei woman, born March 1, 1924 (d. 2015) in Yuba City, California to a business family. From the age of three until she was eighteen, Molly attended Japanese language school Monday through Friday after her public school classes. In 1942, the family was interred to Tule Lake, California. While bitter about internment she saw opportunities to learn. She continued Japanese language, flower arrangement, tea ceremony, knitting and sewing. Her family returned to Marysville in 1945. Molly attended design schools in San Jose and Los Angeles for four years. After her marriage she continued her quest of Japanese cultural arts and was active in the promotion of international cultural and educational exchanges between Japan and America, and China and America. Her deep belief in Buddhism led her to enroll in a three year course at Chuo Buddhist Institute in Kyoto and was ordained as a priest in November 1995. She received numerous awards for these accomplishments between 1969 and1991." ---California Revealed.

Manuscrito
Condición: Good. Silkscreen poster printed in white, blue and yellow on Crescent Board 20 x 14.5 inches. The Berkeley Chapter was organized in early 1942 with Kimio Obata (son of U.C. Art Professor Chiura Obata) as president. WW II and the evacuation of Japanese Americans from the West Coast suspended the chapter's activities. An East Bay Chapter was formed after the war to include Berkeleyans but was split in 1953 into Oakland, Berkeley, and the Contra Costa Chapters. Later the Oakland Chapter was absorbed into the Berkeley Chapter. Berkeley was fortunate to include the more active East Bay members like Tad Hirota, Masuji Fujii, Frank and Toshi Yamasaki, Albert and Ruth Kosakura, George and Bess Yasukochi, Mas Yonemura, Paul and Kay Yamamoto, and Bill Fujita. They carried on a vigorous community program, which included promotion of Issei citizenship, scholarship awards, open forums on civic issues, benefit movies, picnics, talent shows (one of which included the now famous Pat Morita), and sports team sponsorship. From the estate of Wataru (1913-2000) and Hifumi Miura.
