Softcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. foreword by Rex Ingamells, acknowledgements, index of authors with biographical notes, glossary, note to teachers and index of first lines. Green coloured cloth covered paperback binding with yellow embossed titles to the front panel and yellow titles to the backstrip. "I do not assert that they can be no great Australian literature without widespread understanding of aboriginal Law and Customs, though I am convinced that that culture will be the sounder for an appreciation of these; but I do contend there can be no maturing of our culture without a proper assimilation of environmental values, Alcheringa-qualities, the growth of the people in fundamental sympathy with what has been distinctive of our land since time immemorial." From the compiler's foreword. Poets included William Hart-Smith, Paula Fitzgerald, Ian Mudie, Henry Lawson, Henry Kendall. Creasing to the book corners and rubbing of the book edges and to the book panels. Browning with scattered foxing to the text block edges with lighter browning of the pages. The last three pages, from 103 through to end of book, the front edge has become creased and shows a few small horizontal tears. There is a creased that runs the full length of the rear panel.
