The first edition of this selection, printed by A.H.Bullen at the Shakespeare Head Press. 8vo. 43pp. Cloth-backed paper-covered boards lettered in black at the upper board. A hint of toning to the board margins, some light browning and spotting to the endpapers with a hint of further spotting to several preliminary and concluding leaves. A very good copy. Twenty-four poems plus twenty-three further brief 'Bookplate' verses. William Joseph Ibbett was a minor poet and amateur (by all accounts exceedingly poor) printer, who also published verse under the pseudonym Antaeus. He is perhaps most famous today for being a suspect in the Jack the Ripper murders.

First edition, limited to 165 numbered copies. Tomkinson 1. *William Joseph Ibbett (1858 - 1934) also wrote poetry under the pseudonym Antaeus. The High House Press was founded by James Masters in 1924. At first, the entire work of the Press - typesetting, press-work, editing, etc. - was done by Masters alone, but after 1927 his wife helped with the typesetting. In 1936 James and Beatrice Masters moved to Westbury-on-Trym, where the High House Press operated for another four years.
