Umschlag leicht berieben, sonst gutes Exemplar. - Bildanhang fehlt. - Ausführliche Beschreibung zweier sich in Schweizer Familienbesitz befindlichen Ledermalereien von je rund 1,40 m hohem und knapp 6 m langem Format. Die eine Malerei zeigt einen Angriff eines indianischen Reitertrupps in halb europäischer Ausrüstung auf ein kleines Zeltdorf mit scheinbar unberittenen Bewohnern in einem baumbewachsenen gebirgigen Gebiet. Die zweite Malerei zeigt einen Angriff oder Gegenangriff von Soldaten in der typischen Grenadiertracht des 18. Jahrhunderts auf ein Lager von abgestiegenen Reitern. Die Bilder wurden von einem Familienangehörigen, der als Jesuitenpriester in der mexikanischen Provinz Sonora tätig war, in der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts an seine Schweizer Familie geschickt. Sowohl kolonialgeschichtlich als auch militärhistorsch ergiebige Analyse mit ausführlichem Bezug auf die Apachen sowie das Massaker vom 13. August 1720 am Pawnee-River.
