Blue and White Cloth. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. No Additional Printings. Blue and White Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. No Additional Printings. Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 43 pages; frontispiece photo of John Palmer Darnall; publication date is not given, but book giver's message on front fly is dated 1954; and written by "Aunt Sarah", who would be John Darnall's wife. The Darnall's had become interested in Norway and the Norwegian people in 1937 when they visited that country, and later they sponsored a young Norwegian man to come to the U.S. as their guest, and to enter college. When WWII began, John Darnall volunteered his services to "Little Norway" in Toronto, where the Royal Norwegian Air Force trained, doing Public Relations work. The Darnalls were instrumental in getting much relief to the Norweian people. He was given a citation by King Haakon, in 1945, (the Liberty Cross) as a token of thanks for what he had done for the country's liberation. From a letter from Norway, after John Darnall's death: "Your husband will always be remembered in Norway as a symbol of the warm and broad American mind. His sensitive feellings and unselfish consideration for everything will always remain as a bright ideal." Book condition: The top edge has some foxing and is darkened a bit; there is a 1/4 inch break in the cover at the lower front corner, with a small amount of board showing; "With love from Aunt Sarah, Christmas 1954", in ink, on the front fly.
