First edition, stated, of this book which launched a national movement to protect Grizzly Bears in Southeast Alaska, and particularly on Admiralty Island. The first management plant was prepared by the Alaska Game Commission and National Forest Service in 1932, and conservation remained assured until the logging contracts and lawsuits which occurred in the 1960's and 1970's before Admiralty Island was designated at the Kootznoowoo Wilderness.
