Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Hinges are heavily cracked with exposed netting. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil markings to front pastedown and free endpaper. Binding is loose. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Moderate splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Rubbed marking to surfaces, with brown staining to front board. Moderate tanning to spine and edges.

Binding lightly cracked in two places near center. Hinges NOT cracked. Deckle edges. Pages clean and unmarked. Four pages (one folded leaf) with an attached illustration are detached. This does not appear to be damage, rather it looks as though they missed being sewn into the binding signature (a binding flaw). Preface by Paul W. Bartlett. 454 pages. No dust jacket.
